About Malva Lava

inside the business

Malva Lava is a company working across services, systems, and objects.

It combines a home care and product experimentation to explore the relation between technology, time, and value.

About the founder

I started this company because I needed help at home and couldn't find a service that felt honest.

Fixed checklists. No communication. No memory of what had been done before. A different person every time.

I wanted something that worked like a system, based on my needs.

So I built it.

My name is Julieta Talavera. I'm a designer, a mother of two, and I live on a farm near Svedala. I've spent the last decade working in IT and design. I left that to start this.

Right now I run the service myself. I clean. I test. I talk to every customer. I'm building from the ground up.

What Malva Lava is

A home care subscription built around how your household actually lives.

Not a fixed checklist. Not a generic service. A system that learns your home and gives you a way to direct it in real time.

The work is practical: cleaning, organizing, laundry, plants, restocking, whatever your home needs that week.

The technology is simple: an app where you add tasks before each visit. No emails. No follow-up calls. No explaining from scratch every time.

Why care work matters

Running a home takes more skill, time, and attention than most people give it credit for.

It also takes up mental space constantly. The list of things to do, to remember, to organize. The load that never empties.

Malva Lava is built on the idea that care work is skilled labor. It deserves fair pay, good tools, and serious design attention.

We pay cleaners well and (we have a full invoice transparency so you will see how much). We use products that are safe for families and for the environment. We treat the people doing this work as professionals, because we are.

Beyond the service

Malva Lava also develops objects and tools that explore a related question: how do we design a home that supports the life we actually want?

The first project is the Ritual Lamp, developed in collaboration with IKEA Home of the Home Lab. It's a physical object that encourages presence by giving your phone a place to rest.
